Meurisse was born in 1845 with the pastry chef Adolphe Meurisse, a pioneer of Belgian chocolate as he founded the first Belgian chocolate factory in 1845 in Antwerp, at a time when chocolate was still a rare delicacy. Meurisse is the oldest Belgian chocolate maker and has always placed progress at the heart of its concerns.
