Renowned for its masterful interpretation of classic American menswear, BEAMS PLUS began as a tiny shop in Harajuku, Tokyo, in 1976, named American Life Shop BEAMS. Following a turbulent political period, young people, influenced by American culture in films and on TV, sought out something beyond military equipment. This marked the start of BEAMS. Designed to recreate a UCLA student’s room, the store was undoubtedly the first of its kind.
