Renowned for its masterful interpretation of classic American menswear, BEAMS PLUS started as a tiny store in Harajuku, Tokyo, in 1976. The shop, named American Life Shop BEAMS, opened during a period when young people, influenced by images of American culture in films and television, were eager to get their hands on something beyond military gear. This was the beginning of BEAMS. Designed to resemble a UCLA student’s room, the shop was undoubtedly the first of its kind.
